2018: Inc. Magazine

Never far from the Dell business through my professional network and interests, its influence reigned supreme.

In 2018 as part of my editorial platform, Emotional Intelligence @ Work, I wrote a column for Inc. Magazine. My best performing Inc. article - The most important reason you need to develop your emotional intelligence now - addressed the freshest intersection of humanity & tech: the human accountability in A.I., not simply the impact of A.I. on humanity - the latter an arguably easier and more popular exploration.

Featured perspectives include:

  • Mary Czerwinski, research manager of the Visualization and Interaction (VIBE) research group at Microsoft

  • Mark Edmunds, senior partner and board member at Deloitte

2019: Fast Company

By 2019, the intersection of humanity and tech was positively on fire.
It dominated keynotes, panels, and rabbit holes of SxSW.

To mine the humanity of tech, I went back to my roots - the most significant point of impact on my widening perspective - Dell Technologies.

Featured perspectives include:

  • John Roese, CTO of Dell Technologies

  • Olaf Groth, founder and managing partner of Cambrian AI, and coauthor of Solomon’s Code: Humanity in a World of Thinking Machines

  • Francesca Rossi, the AI ethics global leader of IBM

  • Gabriel Fairman, founder and CEO of Bureau Works

  • Lisa Seacat DeLuca, director of IoT & digital twin at IBM

  • Jon Christiansen, PhD, data scientist and chief intelligence officer of Sparks Research

  • Aleksandra Przegalinska, an assistant professor at Kozminski University and an AI research fellow at MIT Sloan School of Management

The relevance and timeliness of the Inc. article - and now the editorial assault of the world’s premiere innovation conference - inspired my follow-up piece for Fast Company magazine: The secret to rebuilding trust in tech: More emotionally intelligent humans.

2019: DWEN Singapore

On the heels of the Fast Company article, I was invited by DWEN to cover its conference in Singapore and moderate a panel employee engagement.

Panel Creator & Host

To bring the Fast Company article to life, I was invited by SxSW to host a panel: You: The Secret to Rebuilding Trust in Tech.

Read @ SXSW.com

Humans are messy, non-linear, and can’t be optimized, a constant pain point for the most analytical and technical thinkers. This panel addresses the direct connection between AI and emotional intelligence (EI) as a whole, not just a single EI component like empathy or compassion.

Industry experts explore emotionally intelligent solutions to closing the trust gap between humans and AI - a shared responsibility of founders, organizational leaders, technologists, and the marketing function.

  • Moderator - Meghan E. Butler, Contributing Writer, Fast Company

2020: SXSW -
